Australia: Pay to use dressing rooms

Some clothing stores in Australia are now charging shoppers a “fitting fee” in stores
Came across this news and I found it really unbelievable. Few clothing stores in Australia are now charging shoppers a “fitting fee” in stores to keep them from searching and buying online at a lower price. The fee is refunded upon purchase. According to News.com.au, to try on ski boots at some ski shops could cost you as much as $50 fitting fee. Crazy!

The International Fashion Group Managing Director David Mendels told The Weekend Australian Magazine, “consumers are going into stores and trying on brands and then going online to the U.S. to avoid the duty and GST.” “A garment bought from oversea means there is no garment bought here.”

So, would you pay?
