According to Vogue, “The gommino pattern (Italian for “rubber”) found on the sole of the ubiquitous Tod’s moccasin recently inspired the geometric pattern that is stamped on this new collection of leather bags (available this September)—the pebble shape is first imprinted in the leather with an iron and then hammered out during production.”
Celebrities/designers including Lady Gaga, Nicole Kidman, Victoria Beckham, Cindy Lauper, Orlando Bloom, Karl Lagerfeld, Charlise Theron, Blake Lively, Gwyneth Paltrow and Alber Elbaz are teaming up with the Japan editions of Vogue and GQ to create T-shirts with messages of encouragement for Japan to support the “Save Japan! Project”. All proceeds will go toward the Japanese Red Cross to aid recovery efforts in northeastern Japan.
The shirts will retail for $19.90 and go on sale on June 25th at Uniqlo stores worldwide.
