How to Clean Chocolate Stains From my Couch

Do you look at your Couch and wonder how it ever got so dirty? The answer is everyday uses and lots of it. The chances are you have some chocolate stains on it too, right? The whole thing could do with a steam clean but let’s stick to the worst stain for now. Removing chocolate can be tough but with the right effort and products, it’s easier than or sounds.

Does Chocolate Stain?

There’s good news and bad news. The bad news is that chocolate does Stain and it can leave quite bad Stains as well. The good news is that there are ways and means to remove chocolate stains – even ingrained ones that have been there for a while.

If you get some chocolate on your clothes or upholstery the best thing to do is to remove it with water and soap as quickly as possible. This should remove it and prevent the staining. If it’s left for a while and becomes ingrained, you need to soak it in heavy cream first, for half an hour.

Removing Chocolate Stains From my Couch

If the chocolate stain is only recently on your couch you should be able to remove it by following the steps above. Scrape off the chocolate with a knife or scraper and use water and cleaning to take off the rest. If the stain is more ingrained, follow the steps below or hire Couch Cleaning Services Sydney.

  • Use a stain remover product and add one or two tablespoons of warm water.
  • Apply the stain remover using an old toothbrush, go gently, try not to work the stain in further.
  • Use a clean towel to soak up the stain remover. A paper towel also works.
  • Repeat these steps until the stain is no longer visible.

If you follow these steps repeatedly you should see the Stain fade and disappear completely. Remember to work the toothbrush gently, however, and don’t use tough ingredients like baking powder which can lead to discoloration and damage to the upholstery.

When to Clean my Couch

Your Couch is one of the most used furniture items in the house, and it is not only used frequently but also for long periods of time. It’s no wonder the Couch gets covered with stains and grubbing so often. So how often should it be cleaned?

Professionals recommend that a Couch should be cleaned every 6 to 12 months to maintain its newness. That doesn’t mean it has to be professionally steam cleaned, you can do it yourself without water spray and a cloth, but if you stick to this schedule you won’t have a dirty sofa or a dirty house.
