IGGM.com Diablo 4 Season 9 Guide: How To Complete Firewall/Hydra Sorcerer Leveling Build?

In the early stage of Diablo 4 Season 9, how can you get a greater advantage over other players and enter the endgame faster? A good leveling build is always indispensable!

Although some classic builds in past seasons can still play a considerable power, if you want to try a new build, I think there is no better choice than this Sorcerer build based on Firewall and Hydra skills. Whether you want to achieve fast leveling, Diablo 4 gold farming, or challenge ordinary bosses, the performance of this build will not disappoint you!

So, why does it stand out among the many builds in Season 9? In fact, it was already a top build before the update, and with the enhancement of fire skills, this build is completely unstoppable.

What Benefits Did Firewall/Hydra Sorcerer Get In Season 9?

Let’s get straight to the point. Let’s take a look at the highlights of Firewall/Hydra Sorcerer in this update.

First of all, Hydra, Inferno and Firewall have all been buffed in Season 9. In addition, Hydra no longer costs mana, which is a big deal for leveling.

Hydra’s mechanics have also changed, and now all heads will attack the enemy immediately after spawning. This makes Hydra faster and more responsive to actual games. However, you may need to see it in person in the game to truly understand it.

More importantly, Hydra Enchantment node has been reworked and now provides more than 50% critical damage multiplier, which means that critical hit builds are now feasible.

In addition, Legendary Paragon Nodes of this build have also been buffed, and the passive skills associated with it have also been changed. It’s hard to say whether this is a major change, but these are definitely quality of life improvements for us.

All in all, patch 2.3.0 makes the already great Sorcerer starter build even better. In addition, the developers have fixed a lot of bugs in Sorcerer and the base class in the entire game, so Sorcerer is likely to become the new focus in the popular build rankings in Season 9.

Skill Point Allocation

Before I start, I need to remind you that we will only introduce this Firewall/Hydra Sorcerer build here, and will not design the best farming method and seasonal advancement route.

First, let’s take a look at Skill Point allocation of this build.

When we complete all Renown boards, all characters in our account will receive 12 Skill Points. Although your build and resources will be completely reset with the season update, Renown system will affect the entire account. Therefore, if you have played the game before, this will give you a better start.

If this is your first time playing, it is recommended that you start with the default basic skills.

  1. Invest your first 2 points in the basic Shock skill.
  2. Then put 1 point into Fireball, which, when upgraded, can set enemies on fire, increase damage, and instantly execute enemies below 25% life.
  3. Put 1 point into Elemental Dominance.
  4. The next 3 points go into Teleport, upgrading movement speed and defense.
  5. Put 1 point into Glass Cannon.
  6. Put 1 point into Hydra and its upgrades, one adding a head and the other adding DoT damage.
  7. Finally, Familiar with two Enchantment nodes, you can put 1 point each into Damage Reduction and Barrier Generation.

Skill Rotation

The basic rotation right now is: place 2 Hydra like turrets, press Familiar to summon the fire Hydra, and keep using your basic skills while mana regenerates. You can also summon a Familiar of the same element after casting a basic skill, which will follow and attack nearby enemies while passively increasing your damage. Now, select Firewall with Enchantment node, and your skill bar is basically complete.

This way, even when facing large monster packs, you can press Arc Lash to stun enemies and then trigger Familiar to cause periodic explosion damage to enemies. As the explosion fills the screen, you only need to pick up the mess later and pick up the dropped Diablo 4 gold!

Equipment

For equipment selection, the stats on the equipment are actually not important in the early stages, because before Torment 1, all equipment is basically garbage. So, don’t waste time comparing.

When you reach Torment difficulty, Ancestral items will start to drop, that is, items with a star icon, they have 800 item power, and these are the only ones you need to focus on.

So, in the early stages, we only need to get 4 aspects from the dungeon, and all our equipment is ground loot.

Legendary Aspects

You can currently get the following aspects at the beginning of any difficulty dungeon, which will make your leveling speed twice as fast.

  • Aspect of Control
  • Aspect of Disobedience
  • Snowveiled Aspect
  • Storm Swell Aspect

There are also some Aspects that help with this, but they can only be obtained by recycling Legendaries:

  • Aspect of Searing Wards
  • Aspect of Elemental Constellation
  • Aspect of Engulfing Flames
  • Conceited Aspect
  • Aspect of Shredding Blades
  • Aspect of Concentration
  • Aspect of Elemental Acuity
  • Ghostwalker Aspect
  • Aspect of Three Curses

Horadric Spells

For the new Horadric Spells this season, you can choose a Catalyst, an Infusion, and three Arcan to add extra power to your equipment. Here we have a suitable combination for you:

Catalyst

  • Disintegrate: Form an Arcane Conductor that shoots a continuous beam between you and it, dealing over 200,000 damage over 8 seconds, and enemies affected by the beam will have their movement speed reduced by 50%.

Infusion

  • Smoldering Ember: This gives you additional burning damage and synergizes with fire skills to increase the damage bonus against burning targets.

Arcana

  • Invigorating Helix: Allows the player to Fortify and restore 10% of their maximum life when damaging an enemy with a Catalyst.
  • Tranquil Stone: Gain Unstoppable effect while your Catalyst is active.
  • Shifting Powder: Significantly increases your movement speed after activating your Catalyst.

    Best Leveling Route

In conclusion, to complete leveling with this build, you always need to do seasonal quests first – their rewards will make you more powerful. Don’t forget to bring your pet to help you get Diablo 4 gold.

Next, get the initial Aspect from the dungeon. Then immediately hire your follower – it can be unlocked after level 15 if this is your first play through. In the meantime, complete your class quests, note that you can only do it once.

Then, join the Legion every 15 minutes, don’t skip any World Bosses, and do Whisper farming in the area they are in. To maximize your farming efficiency, you can also use available potions and buffs regularly.

That’s it! This Firewall/Hydra Sorcerer build is still very playable in Diablo 4 Season 9. You can just cast Firewall and set up your Hydra as a turret to easily clear sizeable areas of monsters. If necessary, you can also use defensive skills to shift positions. So, the strong damage and survivability of this build can definitely help you smoothly transition to the endgame.
